PSOAS muscle: the key to an easy birth
Did you know that there is a muscle within your body that could make labour easier for you?
This muscle is called PSOAS and is a large pair of muscles between the pelvis and ribs. It wraps like cradling wings around to the front of the pelvis and drops down to attach at the lower end to the top of the thigh bone
What does the PSOA do?
They help us walk upright and support our abdominal muscles. The tone of the large PSOAS can have an affect on the descent of the baby and even fetal position.
How do you know if your PSOAS is tight AF?
Here are some signs that could indicate your PSOAS could do with some releasing:
Constipation
High Baby
Tightness in Breath
Baby that won’t descend
Long labours
Four simple ways to release the PSOAS:
Good posture
Sitting with knees lower than pelvis
Deep breathing
Doing some gentle stretching/pregnancy yoga
